• Establishment: Wachemo University, founded in 2004 E.C. (2011 G.C.), is one of Ethiopia's leading comprehensive universities.
• Mission: The university focuses on teaching, research, and community service, striving for academic quality, equity, and fairness.

Campuses and Facilities

Campuses: The university operates three campuses:

• Main Campus
• Durame Campus
• Nigist Eleni Mohamed Memorial Comprehensive Specialized Hospital

Centers: It includes seven agricultural and technology transfer centers, as well as seven teaching centers.

Student Enrollment

• Initial Enrollment: The university began functioning in 2012 with 538 students across 12 departments under 4 colleges.
• Current Enrollment: Wachemo University now hosts over 30,000 students in regular and continuing education programs across 73 departments under 7 colleges.

Staffing

• Academic Staff: The university has 1,479 academic staff, including 9 expatriates, 209 academic technical support staff, making a total of 1,688 academic staff.
• Administrative Staff: Wachemo University employs 2,346 administrative support staff, with 712 male and 1,634 female employees.
• Qualifications: Among the full-time academic staff, there are 94 PhD holders, 1,154 MSc/MA holders, and 168 BSc/BA holders, along with technical assistants.

Waechomo University has two campuses: the main campus in Hosanna. Another ther Camus is Durame campus, located about 60 km away from main campus in Kambata Tambaro Zone.
