History & About Kotebe University of Education

Kotebe University of Education (KUE), formerly known as Kotebe Metropolitan University, is a prominent institution in Ethiopia with a history of nearly 65 years.

  • Founding: Established in 1959 as a college of education within Haileselassie I University (HSIU).
  • Relocation: In the 1970s, the college moved to the Addis Ababa Technical and Vocational College and was renamed the Addis Ababa College of Teacher Education.
  • Current Name: In 1976, the institution relocated to Kotebe, adopting the name Kotebe College of Teacher Education (KCTE), which later evolved into Kotebe University of Education.
