About Sandford International School

Sandford International School is one of the international schools founded in Ethiopia. Sandford International School's history began in the early 1940s when Mrs. Christine Sandford founded an English-speaking school for her children in Ethiopia. Initially called Sandford English Community School, it served both expatriates and local children with reduced fees for accessibility. In 1949, with support from Emperor Haile Selassie I, the school moved to its current location and became one of Africa's first international schools. Rebranded in 2001, it now offers IGCSE and International Baccalaureate programs for students from nursery to pre-university.
