About Lycée Guebre Mariam
Lycée Guebre-Mariam (LGM), established in 1947 in Addis Ababa, is one of Ethiopia's most renowned French-language educational institutions. Founded through a collaboration between Ethiopia and France, the school was initially created to serve the children of French expatriates, Ethiopian aristocracy, and diplomatic families. It was named in honor of Ras Guebre-Mariam, a distinguished nobleman and governor during Emperor Menelik II's reign, reflecting Ethiopia's historical ties with French education.
