History & About Bule Hora University

Background and Establishment

Mizan-Tepi University (MTU) was established in 1997 E.C. in the South West Peoples’ Regional State of Ethiopia. Located in Mizan-Aman town, 583 km from Addis Ababa, the university initially began its operations with 215 students in three undergraduate programs within the College of Social Sciences.

Current Status

MTU has significantly expanded since its inception, now encompassing 6 colleges and 2 schools. The university currently offers 45 undergraduate and 25 postgraduate programs, with a total enrollment of 11,735 students in regular undergraduate programs, 5,593 in extension programs, and 520 in graduate programs. Additionally, it has branch campuses in Tepi town and operates the Mizan-Tepi University Teaching Hospital in Aman.
