Debre Berhan University

Debre Berhan University (DBU) is a public higher education institution established in 2007 by the Ethiopian Council of Ministers. It focuses on three main mandates: providing quality education, conducting problem-solving research, and engaging with the community.

DBU is recognized as an Applied Science University since 2020, offering Bachelor and Master’s degree programs designed to enhance employability and practical skills. The university emphasizes research and technology transfer, collaborating with local, regional, and international partners.

Established in 2009, the College of Engineering at Debre Berhan University began with two departments: Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Civil Engineering.

Expansion

• Expanded to five departments by 2010/12, adding Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Construction Technology and Management.
• Launched three more departments in 2018/19: Surveying Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Food Engineering.
