• Location: Mekelle University is located in Mekelle, the capital of the Tigray region in northern Ethiopia, approximately 783 kilometers from Addis Ababa.
• Establishment: The university was formed in May 2000 through the merger of Mekelle Business College and Mekelle University College, as per the Ethiopian government's Council of Ministers Regulation No. 61/1999.
