History & About Gabmella University

Gambella University (GBU) is established in 2014, aims to produce qualified graduates who can contribute to the transformation of Ethiopia's economy. In response to performance concerns regarding teaching, research, and community service, the Ministry of Education reformed the university's leadership in October 2023 to enhance its effectiveness. Currently, Gambella University offers 45 undergraduate and 10 postgraduate programs, focusing on areas such as Agriculture, Mining, Tourism, and Peace and Security. The new leadership has introduced a motto to accelerate progress and established taskforce teams to improve various aspects of the university, including academics and infrastructure. The university emphasizes community engagement, problem-solving research, and international partnerships to enhance its impact and achieve its vision.
