History & About Injibara University

Jigjiga University, established in March 2007, is one of the public higher education institutions in Ethiopia, formed alongside the Second-Generation universities. Located in Jigjiga, the capital of the Somali regional state and 635 kilometers from Addis Ababa, the university officially began operations with 712 students and a small administrative team across three faculties.

  • Student Enrollment: The university has grown significantly, currently enrolling a total of 21,554 students in 57 various academic programs. Additionally, there are 627 postgraduate students pursuing advanced studies in six academic programs.
