Raya University

Raya University (RU), situated in the Southern Zone of Tigray, Ethiopia, was founded in 2015 through a regulation by the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (Council of Ministers, Regulation No. 357/2015). As an autonomous higher education institution, it aims to meet the increasing demand for quality education in the region. In 2021, the Ministry of Education officially recognized it as a Comprehensive University.

The university was established to support the socio-economic development of Ethiopia while providing students with exceptional educational opportunities. From the beginning, RU has focused on delivering high-quality education, engaging in impactful research, and serving the community, all while fostering an atmosphere of academic excellence.

Raya university were categorized under general (comprehensive) universities.
