About ICS

The International Community School (ICS) (Amharic: ኢንተርናሽናል ኮምዩኒቲ ት/ቤት) was established in 1964 on 15 acres of land donated by Emperor Haile Selassie I to support the international and diplomatic communities. Originally known as the American Community School (linked to the US Embassy), the school transitioned to its current name, International Community School or ICS, in 2002 to better reflect its diverse international community.

As an internationally accredited International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, ICS serves families with children from Early Years 3 to Grade 12. The school provides access to expert faculty from around the world, offering personalized support to empower students for success.

ICS fosters a warm and inclusive community, welcoming families from over 80 countries. The school's vision aligns with positioning Addis Ababa as the diplomatic capital of Africa. Over the years, ICS has thrived alongside the city's growth as a major diplomatic center, home to the African Union and numerous embassies.
