Detailed Unit Breakdown
Unit 1: Map Reading
This unit teaches Students fundamental map skills including reading directions, measuring distances, enlarging and reducing maps, and representing relief features. After completing this unit, Students will identify directions and measure distances on maps, practice enlargement and reduction techniques, locate places using various methods, and understand how relief is represented on maps.
Unit 2: The Physical Environment of the World and Ethiopia
Students explore the Earth’s origin, tectonic movements, climate systems worldwide and in Ethiopia, and the factors influencing ecosystems. After completing this unit, Students will understand the Earth’s origin and tectonic processes, describe the physical environment’s components, discuss climate classifications and Ethiopia’s climate, and explain factors affecting ecosystem diversity.
Unit 3: World Population
This unit examines global population growth trends, components of population change, population structures in different countries, spatial distribution, and Ethiopia’s population characteristics. After completing this unit, Students will grasp world population growth, identify components of population change, compare population structures between developed and developing countries, evaluate spatial distribution factors including urbanization, and analyze Ethiopia’s population.
Unit 4: Economic System and Development
Students learn about various economic systems, sustainable development, economic organizations, and globalization’s economic effects. After completing this unit, Students will recognize different economic systems, understand sustainable development concepts and indicators, appreciate economic organizations’ roles, and explain the impacts of globalization on economies.
