Ethiopian Grade 11 Old Curriculum Geography has 4 units. They are:

- Unit 2: Map Reading and Interpretation

- Unit 4: Population, Economy and Natural Resources of Africa
Unit 1: The Science of Geography
Introduces the meaning, scope, and major approaches of geography, exploring different schools of thought and the discipline’s relationship with other sciences. Students understand key concepts, study perspectives, and the role of geography in solving spatial problems.
Unit 2: Map Reading and Interpretation
Focuses on relief representation using contour lines, drawing cross-sections, determining intervisibility, and identifying drainage patterns. Students learn to distinguish human-made features on maps and gain an introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Unit 3: An Overview of Physical Geography of Africa
Covers Africa’s position, size, shape, and geological structure. Students examine African climate zones, drainage systems, vegetation, wildlife, and soils, appreciating the continent’s diverse natural landscapes and ecosystems.
Unit 4: Population, Economy and Natural Resources of Africa
Explores population size, growth, distribution, and migration patterns. Students analyze African economic structures, concepts of growth and development, natural resources, and their political implications, along with issues of resource utilization and conflict management.
