The Ministry of Education has released the official entry points for the 2018 remedial program

The Ministry of Education has confirmed that 82,838 students who did not reach the university entrance cut-off score in the 2018 E.C (2025/26 G.C) academic year will have another opportunity to join higher education institutions through a remedial program. Dr. Kora Tushune, the Minister of State for Higher Education, told reporters that the initiative will help thousands of students strengthen their academic performance before entering degree programs.

Who can join the remedial program

According to the Ministry, only candidates who scored 33 percent or more in the subjects they took during the 2017 E.C (2024/25 G.C) national exam will qualify for the remedial program in both public and private institutions.

For those seeking admission to public universities under government sponsorship, only students who meet the cut-off point and the subject-level requirements are eligible. The Ministry also explained that students who scored below 49.5 percent in the natural and social sciences fields of public universities may still benefit if they achieved at least 33 percent in the subjects they took.

The entry points for the 2018 E.C (2025 G.C) remedial program is:-

  • Natural and Social Sciences (Male Students): 216
  • Natural and Social Sciences (Female Students): 204
  • Students from Developing Regions and Pastoral Areas (Both Genders): 198
  • Deaf Students, Natural and Social Sciences (Both Genders): 198
  • Blind Students, Natural and Social Sciences (Both Genders): 165
