Chapter Overview
Chapter 1: ሰውነታችን (Our Body)
Students learn about the importance of food, digestion, blood circulation, and healthy living. They study puberty changes, understand family planning, and explore ways to prevent diseases such as HIV/AIDS. The lessons focus on health, hygiene, and responsible behavior, encouraging students to practice good habits in daily life.
Chapter 2: የተፈጥሮ አካባቢያችን (Our Natural Environment)
This chapter teaches about matter, natural resources, and energy. Students explore renewable and non-renewable resources, learn about weather and climate, and understand forest protection and conservation. They perform simple observations and experiments, such as identifying energy sources or water cycle stages, to strengthen their understanding of nature.
Chapter 3: ሀገራችን (Our Country)
Students discover Ethiopia’s geographical features, population, and economy. They identify mountains, rivers, and wildlife, and study how agriculture, trade, industry, and tourism contribute to national development. This chapter helps them appreciate Ethiopia’s diversity and natural wealth, while developing pride in their country.
Chapter 4: ማኅበራዊ አካባቢያችን (Our Social Environment)
In this chapter, students explore Ethiopian culture, languages, values, and traditions. They discuss harmful traditional practices and ways to avoid them, and they learn about respect, cooperation, and good citizenship. The lessons encourage love for culture, appreciation of diversity, and understanding of social relationships and good governance.
