The Bank of Abyssinia (BOA) is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Associate UX/UI Designer to join its Product Development Department. This position offers an opportunity to shape the user experience of digital banking products and contribute to one of Ethiopia’s fastest-growing financial institutions.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) in:
  • Computer Science
  • Software Engineering
  • Information Systems
  • Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Or other related fields

A Certificate in UX/UI or Graphic Design is considered an added advantage.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience
  • At least 3 years directly in UX/UI Design or Graphic Design
  • Prior experience in the banking industry is advantageous

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As an Associate UX/UI Designer at Bank of Abyssinia, your core responsibilities will include:

User Research & Experience Design
  • Conduct user research through interviews, surveys, usability tests, and competitor analysis.
  • Translate research findings into wireframes, prototypes, and user journey maps.
  • Assist in creating and refining user personas and information architecture.
UI Design & Implementation
  • Develop intuitive UI elements such as icons, layouts, and components.
  • Design user flows, screen transitions, and visual hierarchies.
  • Ensure that implemented designs by IT teams match approved prototypes.
Design Documentation & Collaboration
  • Maintain design libraries and UX/UI documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, testers, and product managers.
  • Participate in agile team discussions, design critiques, and feedback loops.
Usability & Quality Control
  • Test developed applications for design accuracy and usability.
  • Track metrics for user satisfaction and interface efficiency.
Professional Growth & Support Duties
  • Act on behalf of the UX/UI Designer in his/her absence.
  • Explore design ideation techniques such as sketching, storyboarding, and card sorting.
  • Maintain version control and a clear design history.
  • Contribute to planning, task delivery, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare, review, and deliver periodic reports to supervisors.
