Required Qualification and Experience
- Education: LLB or LLM Degree in Law from an accredited university.
- Experience: Minimum of 4–6 years of professional legal experience, including 3 years in the banking or financial sector.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Legal Officer plays a key role in protecting the Bank’s interests by providing accurate legal advice, ensuring the compliance of contracts and documentation, and representing the Bank in all legal proceedings when required.
- Draft and review loan, pledge, and mortgage agreements.
- Ensure all borrower documents and transactions meet legal standards.
- Verify proper registration of mortgage and collateral documents.
- Safeguard all legal and security documents in accordance with policy.
- Monitor expiry and renewal of mortgage contracts.
- Represent the Bank in courts, tribunals, and legal offices when necessary.
- Identify risks, legal gaps, or documentation issues and recommend solutions.
- Support credit teams with contract interpretation and compliance training.
- Maintain accurate records and generate weekly and monthly legal reports.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by supervisors.
