Ethio Life and General Insurance S.C. (E.LiG). was founded in 2008 by 117 shareholders with the goal of bringing long-term insurance to millions of homes in Ethiopia. Initially focused on life insurance, the company received its license from the National Bank of Ethiopia and began operations in October 2008. In 2012, recognizing the growing potential of general insurance, Ethio-Life expanded its offerings and became a composite insurer, providing both life and non-life insurance products under the new name, Ethio Life and General Insurance S.C.
